Winter 24: A Month in Texas

Copperhead Brewery

Copperhead Brewery: Conroe, TX

Striker IPA and Copperhead Select

During our winter 2024 travel we spent a few days northwest of Houston visiting friends.  We took a short drive from our campsite to Conroe, Texas and visited Fass Brewing and Copperhead Brewery.

Actually we asked about Copperhead while at Fass, and the beertender there was quite diplomatic by saying the atmosphere was 'cold'.  That was an understatement.  When we walked into the renovated garage, the owner and a customer were the only ones in there (it has limited operating hours and had just opened), and the owner begrudgingly served us, then proceeded to chat with the other, clearly local, customer.  Yep, the woman at Fass was right.  Atmosphere gets a 1.  I'd give it a zero if it was't for the friendly dog that just wanted attention.

Copperhead had ten taps, mostly heavier, darker darker brews.  I had the Copperhead Select, an American Light Lager which was just ok, and Tim had the Striker IPA which he rated 3.25 on Untappd.  Selection gets a 2.

We saw some imagery on their four packs of bottles and one t-shirt with a beer logo stapled to the wall.  Their website is very basic, looks like it's been under construction since it was created in 2013.  We asked if they had stickers, and received a free can sticker.  Confusing.  Branding gets a 2 only because of the beer branding.

We paid $6 for our two pints, although the sign said $7 for 12 oz for their IPA.  I think the owner was just too lazy to ring it up correctly.  This is average for the area, so price gets a 3.
