Winter 24: A Month in Texas

Guadalupe Mountain Brewing Co.

Guadalupe Mountain Brewing Co.; Carlsbad, NM

Green Chile and Cranberry Wheat

Our second brewery in Carlsbad was Guadalupe Mountain Brewing Co., a few miles from the RV park at which we were staying.  See our review of Milton's Brewing here.

First thing we noticed when we arrived was that not only did everyone have a beer, they were all eating.  And they were all eating pizza.  Fresh made to order.  The place was pretty packed.  And while there is outdoor seating, it was in the mid-50's so everyone was inside.  Atmosphere gets a 3.

Selection is not huge but they also have guest taps, so they end up with a wide variety of flavors.  I had the Green Chile and it was quite refreshing while Tim had the Cranberry Wheat, which he rated 4.25/5 on Untapped.  Selection gets a 3.

There is minimal imagery for the brews, and no individual beer branding.  this is another brewery that just links to their Untapped page for the list of brews, which I consider a lost opportunity to really push branding.  They had minimal merchandise, and all with the company logo. Their website is fairly decent, but really focuses on the food vs. the taps.  They actually have "don't forget the beer" on their website.  Their Instagram is not very active at all, with no overall visual strategy. Branding gets a 2.

As for Price, our pints were $6, and the pizza was appropriately priced.  Price gets a 3.

We mentioned the food, which appears to be the focus of GMBC.  Our chicken with chiles was pretty good, and went really well with the chile beer.  We also ordered a side salad, which was HUGE.  Overall a good visit!
