Winter 24: A Month in Texas

Laughing Sun Brewing Co.

Laughing Sun Brewing Co; Bismarck, ND

Our first overnight stop on our Glacier NP adventure, we stopped in Bismarck, ND, where we found Laughing Sun Brewing Co. just east of downtown, and only about five miles from where were staying.  There are actually a few breweries in Bismarck (see our post about Gideon's Brewing)- I basically selected this one because of the logo.  For real.  Branding works.

The building is quite impressive, and quite new (we also visited Gideon Brewing, downtown where Laughing Sun used to be).  As you enter the building, there was a table set with 13 beers honoring the 13 US soldiers that lost their lives in the recent Kabul Airport attack.  We should always be thankful for our servicemen and women, who fight for us each day so we can go have a beer in a cool place.

13 beers to honor the 13

There is ample room indoors, an enclosed patio area with garage door like windows that roll up/down, and then plenty of picnic tables outside.  They are starting up an Axe Throwing League, with lanes for axe throwing in the enclosed patio area.  Near the patio is their meat smoker - the food smelled amazing (we did not have any).

I had a pint of the Strawberry Wheat (what - no fancy name?), an American Pale Wheat, with just a hint of fruit.  Tim opted for a flight since there were at least two sours he wanted to try.  He enjoyed the Strawberry Wheat as well rating it as 3.75/5 in his Untapped app.  Overall they do have a decent selection, with a wide variety of types and flavors.

There is individual beer branding, with some great graphics on the cans.   These are even available as individual shirts, however a somewhat limited selection overall for merchandise.  FREE stickers.  Their website is very visually appealing, featuring the can designs.  Any website that mentions Axe Throwing will get my attention (although I've never tried it!). Branding gets a 4.

Most taps were $6 - which is average, however the flight was only $2, so Price gets a 4.

This is the first brewery we rated four pints across the board!
