Winter 24: A Month in Texas

Backslope Brewing

Backslope Brewing; Columbia Falls, MT

During our time on the west side of Glacier NP, about 16 miles from the our campsite, we found one of several breweries in the area, Backslope Brewing

Backslope is along Hwy 2, kind of in the middle of everything along a busy section of the road.  From what we saw, it is more of a restaurant with a brewery, and as we did need a snack we put our name on the list for seating.  Backslope does have an outside area, currently only used while you wait to be seated (no service).  Friendly greeting, friendly bartender, and very nice waitress, however it really had no 'brewery' vibe.  Ambiance gets a 2.

The brewery has a medium size selection with a wide variety, however many of the taps were out.   We both ended up having The Herbalist, an American Wheat.  Tim gave it a 3.75/5 in his Untapped App.

There is no individual beer branding, and while they do have kind of interesting names, the board listing the taps was difficult to read.  They had a very limited selection of merchandise, with the same generic logo on the shirts, cups, hats, etc.  They charged $3 for stickers.  Their website is so-so, with the home page currently posting a warning about their schedule and that they don't take reservations - kind of a negative vibe even to the website.  They do have an active Instagram account.  Branding gets a 2.

A pint was only $6, a bit above average.  Price gets a 2.

I mentioned we did grab a bite to eat - a delicious soft cheese and pita plate. Overall we are rating Backslope low as a brewery - however it is probably a delightful place to grab a bite and have a beer.
