Winter 24: A Month in Texas

Spare Keg Breworks

Spare Keg Brewerks: Alamosa, CO

What's the Dillio, a dill pickle Gose, and Not So Bad Hazy IPA

Our last stop during our 7 National Park road trip was Alamosa, CO, where we found Spare Keg Breworks off of Main Street.  It was a quiet, rainy Monday afternoon, and we were greeted by two puppies, a first for us!  We were helped by a friendly beer tender, and they have a nice indoor space, and a decent outdoor space.  Atmosphere gets a 3.

Spare Keg had a smaller selection with eight taps and a wide variety.  I had the What's the Dillio, a seasonal dill pickle Gose, another first, and Tim had the Not So Bad Hazy IPA which he rated 3.75/5 on Untappd.  Selection gets a 2.

There was no individual images and minimal merchandise hung on the wall (see below).  Their website is decent with some humor woven throughout, and their Instagram is fairly active but used mostly to announce events.  We did find out that due to naming trademark legal issues, they had to change their name - read the full story here: https://www.alamosacitizen.com/square-peg-is-becoming-spare-keg/.  Branding gets a 2.

We paid $6-7.50 per pint (the Gose was more).  Price gets a 3.
