Pub Ale and Statehood Lager

During our stay in the Phoenix area duruing the winter of 2023, we visited Lochiel Brewing, tucked away in an industrial park and pretty hard to find.  Lochiel has a very small tap room, and it was pretty full when we arrived. There were a ton of supplies being stored in the actual sitting area, taking up a lot of space.  The all-female team of beer tenders was friendly.  There was no outdoor space.  Ambience gets a 2.

As for Selection, Lochiel's offerings are pretty limited with a focus on Scotish Ales and Lagers, not really our favorites, so it seemed even more limited.  I sampled two taps and neither one was fabulous, but I ordered a Statehood Lager and Tim had the Pub Ale, which he rated 3/5 on Untappd.  Selection gets a 2.

Lochiel does not have individual beer imagery, and their limited visual approach was also reflected in their minimalist logo design.  Stickers were free.  We really liked their story, and feel like more could be done with that as far as branding, as shown with a few of their taps such as Jabobite and Thorfinn Berserker. We actually like the Instagram page since it has some interesting images.  Branding gets a 2.

Prices were average at $7 a pint.  Price gets a 3.
