Winter 24: A Month in Texas

Castle Danger Brewing

Castle Danger Brewing; Two Harbors, MN

On our way to Grand Portage, we stopped at a family diner in Silver Bay, and I had a can of the Castle Danger Summer Crush - described as a 'summer shandy without being a shandy.  Very tasty, and just a sample of what we would be able to taste when we visited Castle Danger Brewing in Two Harbors, MN, on our way back home from visiting Isle Royale.  This time we were staying in the area, just a few blocks from the main tap room (there is also a tap room right off 61).

We both had a pint of the Honey Raspberry Wheat - a lighter wheat with just a hint of fruit.  I then tried the North Shore Lager - again, an enjoyable beer especially after a day of driving (ok so I was riding but still).  Tim's second beer was the Dream House Pale Ale, a very crisp and bright flavorful beer.  Tim's ratings were 4.25 for the Wheat and 3.75 for the Pale Ale, out of 5 in his Untapped App.

They do have a decent selection, with a rotating list of seasonal brews.

There is individual beer branding, with some great graphics on the cans.  However, these are not available as individual shirts (if it was I was totally going to get the  Summer Crush).  They do have a decent stash of merchandise, but again, with the generic or simplified version of the logo. Branding gets a 3.

Most taps were $6 - average, so Price gets a 3.  I was going to purchase a crowler of the Summer Breeze for my soon-to-be-21 year old son as a gift, however current Minnesota law which says only breweries that produce less than 20-thousand barrels a year can sell growlers/crowlers.   However, with the handy 'beer finder' on their website, I can see that it should be available in Cold Spring - bonus!
