Tidal Wave Wheat at Padre Island Brewing

The week we spent in South Padre didn't start off the best - we arrived as temperatures started to drop with strong winds for three days straight.  What better way to pass the time than visit a local brewery?  The only brewery on the island was Padre Island Brewing.

Different than most of the breweries we've visited, Padre Island Brewing is more like a restaurant with a brewery, vs. just a taproom with a food truck.  We didn't try anything off the food menu, however the plates we saw delivered to the tables around us looked amazing.  At the time we could only sit indoors at the bar, however there is outdoor seating above the restaurant.

I had a pint of the South Padre Island Blonde, a blonde ale while Tim had the Tidal Wave Wheat.  I enjoyed the blonde ale, and Tim thought the Tidal Wave was really good, giving it a 4.25/5 in his Untapped App.  We returned later in the week and I had the same blonde ale, while Tim tried Padre Pale Ale, which he didn't like as much, only 3.5/5.

Each beer does have a unique logo stylized for the brewery, and they sell not only t-shirts but also pints with the logos.  Their website and Instagram page is pretty basic and focuses on the food more than the beer.

Beer selection was pretty limited - not sure if they rotate frequently or expand during the summer.  From a price perspective, we hit happy hour both times we were there, and it was only $3 a pint, a fantastic price.

Overall, we'd definitely go again if we're ever in South Padre again, especially if we can hit happy hour again - oh and sit outside too!
