Winter 24: A Month in Texas

Dog'gone Brewery

Dog'gone Brewery; Rockport, TX

While staying in Port Aransas, we took the ferry back to the mainland and drove to Dog'gone Brewery.  This was a little further than we initially thought, but we did find the small town of Rockport to be interesting.  I'm sure there's a bit more going on in the summer than the day we visited.  Dog'gone appeared to be fairly new, an addition to the more established Winery on the Bay, which is really on a side street across the street from the bay.

I had a pint of Small's American Pilsner and Tim had Drew's Hefe.  Both were ok, nothing fabulous.  It was a cool day and the outdoor seating was in the shade, so we left after sampling just one.

On the website, each beer has a dog's image on it - which was not clear nor were there any dog images when we visited in person.  Their website is up to date, although pretty minimal and not a very sophisticated design (list of beers pops up on a separate tab as one large image, all text).  There is still some areas on the Brewery website that jump back to the Winery website.

Selection was not very large when we visited, but their website does show quite a few more options.  From a price perspective, a pint was $6, pretty average.

As I mentioned, the area looks like it would be interesting during the summer, however it was a bit too quiet for us during our visit.
