Winter 24: A Month in Texas

Galveston Island Brewing

Galveston Island Brewing; Galveston, TX

During our first full week on the Texas coast we found Galveston Island Brewing.  The brewery is located in a mostly industrial park area close to downtown Galveston, with only outdoor seating (it is currently under construction).   They are expanding the outdoors so that it's just like being on the beach - we like the direction they're going.

I had the Tiki Wheat, their flagship brew.  This brew is half wheat and half barley paired with coriander and notes of honey sweetness making an extremely refreshing brew.  I had two!  I'm in love their graphic for this brew.  Their website indicates this is the "official beer of Galveston, TX".  Tim had the Georgia Hazy IPA, which he liked a lot (gave it a 4.5/5 in his UnTapped App). He also had the Tiki Wheat and enjoyed it, but not as much as the IPA.

Other branding items to note:  they have a 'beachy' graphic for the brewery itself, and then some of the standards had their own designs.  Website is up to date, although it was hard to find the address on the website.

Selection was not very large, but they have a lot of rotating and seasonal taps. From a price perspective, several taps were as low as $4.50, with most of the taps at $6, slightly below the average we've seen in our travels.

Overall, we enjoyed Galveston Island Brewing and would definitely return.
